Expansion Cumbrian Firm
Wednesday, 21 January 2009
Cumbrian accountancy firm Armstrong Watson has announced the expansion of its financial planning and wealth management team.
Phil Jackson and Colin Robson join as financial planning consultants taking the growing financial planning and wealth management team to 15 strong and Peter Connelly has been promoted to a newly created role of technical financial planning manager.
Before joining Armstrong Watson, Phil spent more than three years at Bolton-based firm Proact as a financial adviser. Phil has accumulated more than eight years' industry experience across the North West bringing with him a breadth of experience.
Colin has acquired 15 years industry experience in leading financial institutions such as Bank of Scotland and Norwich Union where he helped clients with retirement solutions and tax saving strategies including investment in trusts. In their new role they will work alongside the firm's partners and tax consultants to maximise yields for current and future client investments.
Phil said: "I'm looking forwarding to getting my teeth into new challenges, meeting Armstrong Watson's host of current clients and building further opportunities for the firm. The team is ambitious which is very motivating and I'm excited by the future opportunities this position will bring me and being part of a successful and growing team of specialists."
Peter Connelly has been with the firm for more than four years and currently works out of the Hexham office as a financial planning consultant. He will commence his new role in Carlisle at the start of the year where he will be responsible for improving consistency and best practice in the team. Travelling across the group's network of offices including, Cumbria, Leeds and Hexham, Peter will work with the team to enhance technical and product knowledge as well as mentoring and growing the teams skill set.
David Squires, financial planning director and wealth management at Armstrong Watson, comments: "In the current climate it's even more crucial for people to seek sound financial advice and by expanding our financial planning and wealth management team we are able to meet the needs of our increasing client base.
"More so, I think it's a great achievement for Armstrong Watson to be announcing appointments and promotions and it sends out a really positive message to our team and our clients that we're in a position to expand and are looking forward to further expansion when other financial institutions are falling or at the very least tightening their belts."
In his spare time, Phil goes on the defensive for Westmorland football league team Wetheriggs United and can be found training hard once a week in preparation for their weekly Saturday matches. Colin is a keen cyclist and Newcastle United fan and anxiously spends his weekends following the trials and tribulations of his team. Likewise Peter is very sports orientated and enjoys skiing, football and keeping fit.
