A charity lunch which has been organised to raise funds for Cash for Kids’ Coats for Kids Appeal has sold out just three weeks after tables went on sale, raising more than £30,000 so far.

The business lunch, which is being sponsored by CALA Homes at the Marcliffe Hotel on Friday 21st September, is set to be an entertaining afternoon with all 32 tables snapped up by North East businesses.

Contributing £30,000 to the fundraising total for the worthy cause before the event has even taken place, the lunch aims to help ensure disadvantaged children in the area all have suitable winter attire before the cold weather sets in.

Broadcaster and actor, Grant Stott, will host the lunch with a performance from renowned comedian Craig Hill. Extra fundraising will take place on the day with an auction and raffle.

Michelle Ferguson, Cash for Kids charity manager, said: “We are delighted to have the support of CALA Homes in sponsoring this superb business lunch. It is set to be a fantastic day and we are thrilled that all the tables have sold so quickly.

“The funds raised from the event will be used to purchase not only coats but gloves, hats, scarves and suitable shoes for disadvantaged children who may otherwise be faced with braving cold and wet weather this winter.”

“No child in the area should have to endure the winter without the proper cold weather essentials and I’d like to urge everyone who is attending to dig deep on the day to help boost the existing fundraising total.”
