Largs Primary Pupils Focus Road Safety

A Largs optician is helping to keep school children safe in the dark, with a donation of hi-visibility vests to all junior pupils in the area.

Specsavers Largs has donated 106 vests to primary one and two pupils at Brisbane Primary, Kelburn Primary and St Mary's Primary as a continuation of this year's Road Safety Week.

The annual campaign aims to heighten awareness of the extent of incidents on our roads, and helps people to take steps to prevent needless injuries or deaths all year round.

The Largs pupils will be encouraged to wear their vests when walking to and from school and on school trips.

Gillian McCreadie, store director at Specsavers in Largs, says: 'It was a pleasure to be able to visit pupil's at all three schools in Largs - they were so excited to receive a vest each.

'We wanted to present children with the vests to make sure they are as visible as possible to drivers, especially on dark winter nights. Conditions are increasingly bad on the roads, particularly as we move further into winter, making this more important than ever.'

During the recent Road Safety Week, the Specsavers store offered free in-store number plate vision checks in a bid to remind Largs drivers to stay as safe as possible on the roads.
