STAFF at a local opticians have been nominated for a prestigious national award celebrating team excellence.
The Specsavers team in Chesterfield has beaten hundreds of its counterparts around the country to be shortlisted for the 2010 Specsavers Excellence in the Team Award. It celebrates commitment, hard work and exceptional teamwork among employees.
The opticians, at 2 Burlington Street, opened in 1994 to become the 286th Specsavers store in the UK and Ireland. Nominated for the first time this year, the Chesterfield team is up against 19 other shortlisted stores vying for the Excellence in Teams Award. If successful the award would have a welcome home in the trophy cabinet as the store won the Excellence in Dispensing Award last year.
This and six other awards, including Excellence in the Community and Excellence in Optical Customer service will be presented at a glitzy gala dinner awards ceremony on Saturday 4 December at Birmingham's ICC.
Rob Hurdley, store director at Chesterfield Specsavers, says: 'We are thrilled to be in the running for such a fantastic award and the team is really proud as it's a great reflection on the hard work everybody has put in over the past year.
'The store is a great place to work as we pride ourselves on supporting and helping each other on a day-to-day basis, while at the same time providing great customer service, which has always been a priority for us here at Specsavers.'
