Merchant Homes Site Manager Gets Considerate Constructor Nod
Thursday, 28 January 2010
A Merchant Homes site manager has been awarded a Considerate Constructors award for his work on the Trafalgar Court development in Linthouse, Glasgow.
Gordon Nicholls was awarded a Certificate of Compliance for the work that has been carried out on the development on Aboukir Street. Gordon is overseeing the landmark housing project between Merchant Homes and Linthouse Housing Association, which will provide first time homeowners with that first step onto the property ladder.
Mr Nicholls, 57, from Larkhall, said: "I am thrilled to have been awarded the Considerate Constructors award for the Trafalgar Court development. We always do our best to maintain the highest standard on our sites, not just for ourselves at Merchant Homes but for the industry as a whole and it is great to have this recognised.
"Trafalgar Court is becoming an important part of the Linthouse community and this award underlines our commitment to enriching the whole area."
John McBride, Executive Director for Linthouse Housing Association, said "The Association is delighted that Mr Nicholls has been recognised for the hard work carried out at the new development. The performance of Mr Nicholls and everybody at Merchant Homes has so far been excellent and we are looking forward to welcoming our first residents to Trafalgar Court later this year."
The Considerate Constructors scheme was established in 1997 to improve the image of construction. The non profit scheme operates a voluntary Code of Considerate Practice, to which participating construction companies sign up their sites.
All companies registered with the scheme are monitored by an experienced industry professional to assess their performance against the eight point Company Code of Considerate Practice which includes the categories Considerate, Environment, Cleanliness, Good Neighbour, Respectful, Safe, Responsible and Accountable.
