Mott Macdonald Grontmij Joint Venture Wins Place Highways Agency Framework

Thursday, 19 May 2011

A joint venture between Mott MacDonald and Grontmij has been appointed as one of the successful tenderers to Lot 1 - Integrated Highway Engineering and Technology Design Consultancy - and to Lot 3, Commercial Support, for the Highways Agency's four-year Project Support Framework (PSF).

These two key appointments allow the joint venture team to work directly with the Highways Agency on major projects to improve the capability of the strategic road network in England over the next four years. The potential total spend of the two lots over the framework period is up to £145 million.

Based on the submission and acceptance of the joint venture's proposals offering true value and quality within the procurement standards laid out by the Highways Agency and the competitive bidding terms of the Project Support Framework, we anticipate that the appointment to the framework could be worth upwards of £2-3 million per annum.

Peter Carden, Director of Transportation for Mott MacDonald, said: "We have been working closely with Grontmij since 2002 on a number of water frameworks, so it was natural for us to develop our tried and tested working relationship into transport in this way.

"It is a great opportunity to bring innovation and challenge to the development of the strategic road network and help the Highways Agency meet their business objectives."

The Project Support Framework is available for use nationally and can be used by government Departments and local government bodies.

John Chubb, managing director for Grontmij, said: "Grontmij has been working on managed motorway schemes, both internationally and in the UK, for a number of years.

"Following our successful work on the M1 scheme we relish the challenge of providing further innovative solutions to the Highways Agency to help reduce the cost of improving the strategic road network, and deliver their current 20 per cent and future business plan efficiency targets for major schemes."
