National Accolade For Online Holiday Accommodation Business
Thursday, 16 July 2009
A Lancashire based accommodation and tourism website has won a National Business Award recognising its impressive growth strategy.
iknow-uk, based in Leyland, beat off competition from seven other businesses from the North of England and Northern Ireland to win the Growth Strategy of the Year category.
The business won the judges' vote with its in-depth strategy for future development and expansion, based on a proven business model which has seen iknow-uk more than double in size over the last twelve months alone.
Founded by managing director Marcus Simmons in 2003 with the iknow-yorkshire website, iknow-uk now operates 12 regional websites for accommodation providers including hotels, guest houses, holiday cottages and B&Bs.
iknow-uk's websites cover the UK's most popular tourist regions and are visited by almost a million users each month.
Marcus puts iknow-uk's success so far down to customer friendly, easy to use websites and an effective Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) strategy.
Marcus said: "This award recognises the solid foundations we've laid down to ensure continued success and growth for iknow-uk."
"We now attract more than 10 million visitors to our sites each year and are hopeful that figure will have grown to 20 million by 2011.
"But we are most proud of the fact that an unprecedented 90 per cent of our customers continue to advertise on the sites year on year - which is a superb reflection of our customer service record and the conversion of web visits to bookings.
"Our SEO technology also means that we can provide an unrivalled platform for our customers to advertise their properties as our regional websites can be found at the top of all major internet search engine listings."
Each iknow-uk site is specifically tailored to the region it represents, offering local knowledge and destination advice for users, in addition to a broad selection of accommodation options.
With one in five Brits expected to holiday within the UK this year, the team at iknow-uk is gearing up for what is set to be a busy summer.
Marcus continued: "Holidaying in the UK is more popular than ever so there is a great opportunity this summer for the UK's accommodation providers, with most holiday makers preferring to book online.
"We are growing the number of properties listed on our sites all of the time and plan to have the whole of the UK covered by the end of next year."
Category winners at the three regional National Business Award ceremonies are automatically entered as national award finalists with winners set to be announced at a ceremony in London on 10th November 2009.
