Cowie OAPs Club welcomed 75 pensioners to its Christmas party with help from panel board manufacturer, Norbord.

The local plant donated £500 towards the running of the club’s annual party for members.

The festive event took place on Tuesday 20 December at Cowie Minors Welfare Club and guests will be treated to a delicious three-course meal plus entertainment from five-piece band, Crossroads.

The donation also enables the club to give each pensioner a little treat.

In addition to support from Norbord and Cowie Enterprise, Cowie OAPs Club raises funds through its twice weekly bingo nights which are held every Sunday and Wednesday.

Carol Brown, HR manager at Norbord in Cowie, welcomed the club’s chairperson, Jean Arnott, to the plant to present her with the cheque. Carol said: “We are delighted to support Cowie OAP’s Club Christmas party once again this year.

“The party is a fantastic opportunity for the club’s senior members to celebrate the festive season and we have contributed towards its running costs for approximately 15 years.

“Jean planned a fantastic day for the guests and we hope they all have a fabulous time.”

Jean added: “Without the support of Norbord and Cowie Enterprise, we wouldn’t be able to put on such a great party for our pensioners.

“We really value their continued support and it was lovely to meet Carol at Norbord to accept the cheque on behalf of the club.”
