Paper Import Company Selects Sherwood For First Uk Base

East Midlands entrepreneur Mark Carter is defying the economic climate by setting up a new paper product import business at Sherwood Networkcentre in Ollerton.

The new commercial enterprise is the first Western distribution arm of the Chinese company Shangyu Yuezhou Paper Products Ltd, which employs over 800 people in China’s Zhejiang Province and delivers products such as diaries, notebooks and photo albums.

Mark Carter said: “The ethos of Shangyu Yuezhou is to return to a more personal customer service focused business model, taking a step away from online and catalogue orders to provide a more personal and tailor-made paper products service.

“From our position at Sherwood Networkcentre we are in a prime position logistically to service clients all over the UK and eventually across the Continent. It offers us ideal accommodation for our first distribution outlet and has impressive security measures to protect our bulk of stock.”

Sherwood Networkcentre is one of 22 networkcentres developed by Network Space, a joint venture between Langtree and the Government’s national regeneration agency, English Partnerships, which was launched in 1999 to aid the regeneration of former coalfield sites.

Together, these partners have delivered over 700,000 sq ft of high quality space across England, specifically designed for SMEs. The next phase, Network Village, aims to deliver 300,000 sq ft of employment space for SMEs through the development of six Network Villages within a seven-year timeframe to increase the availability of wider and better local employment opportunities.

The English Partnerships’ National Coalfields Programme is assisting coalfield communities throughout England to recover from the decline of the coal industry by creating new employment, homes, leisure facilities and open space. It works closely with Regional Development Agencies (RDAs), The Alliance (formally The Coalfields Campaign), local authorities and many other groups to help rebuild fragile economies. It now covers over 100 sites across some 4,000 hectares.
