Restoration Café unveils festive menu months in the making

Dalkeith Country Park’s Restoration Café has unveiled its festive lunch menu which features a dessert that has been months in the making.
The award-winning café’s menu, created by Head Chef Kenny Sheekey, offers something special and is packed with rich, festive favourites featuring ingredients from local suppliers.
Starters include light dishes such as smoked sea trout, baked pear and stilton tart, and confit duck ballotine – while the main courses boast fresh, seasonal goodies including roast breast of pheasant, seared bream and a butternut squash and cauliflower crumble.
Meanwhile if you’re more of a traditionalist who likes turkey for your Christmas meal, Restoration Café’s twist on the turkey dinner won’t disappoint. It features ballotine of turkey wrapped in Parma ham with all the trimmings.
Top billing on the pudding section goes to the café’s whisky-washed brie which not only pays homage to Dalkeith Country Park’s owner, Duke of Buccleuch Richard Scott, but has also gone through meticulous preparation.
The brie, which is set to be accompanied by apple chutney and sourdough crisps, has been soaking in the Duke’s very own Clan Scott whisky since September to ensure the flavours are just right for the Advent period.
Gillian Heath, Food and Beverage Manager at Restoration Café, said: “Head Chef, Kenny Sheekey, and his team have been working flat out to perfect a Christmas menu that has traditional favourites as well as a twist for those looking for something a little special during the festive period.
“Not only will diners get to enjoy the beautiful surroundings of Dalkeith Country Park and the festive atmosphere of Restoration Yard, they’ll also get to sample dishes made using some of the best seasonal ingredients sourced from local suppliers. We’re particularly proud of the whisky-washed brie, which has been prepared over the course of three months using the Duke of Buccleuch’s own single malt.”
Restoration Café’s mouth-watering festive lunch menu is available to book for sittings Monday to Friday between 1st and 24th December 2017, at £20 for two courses or £25 for three.
