Monday, 21 August 2017
Restoration Café, in Dalkeith Country Park, has been crowned ‘Best place for a café lunch’ in this year’s Midlothian Food and Drink Awards.
The awards celebrate Midlothian’s rich food and drink offering and recognises top establishments in the area.
Locals and visitors were given the opportunity to vote for their favourite nominees with more than 8,800 votes cast across the seven categories.
Gillian Heath, Food and Beverage Manager at Dalkeith Country Park, said: “We are thrilled to see Restoration Café win this wonderful accolade.
“This award is particularly special to us as local people helped to choose the winners. We are exceptionally proud of our food offering and it is great to see this phenomenal feedback from customers.”
Those who attended the recent awards ceremony even had the opportunity to experience Restoration Café’s first-class service and outstanding local produce first-hand, as the event was held in the venue.
Restoration Café diners sit at banquettes and bibelot tables that feature stories of Buccleuch’s illustrious history while enjoying views of the River Esk from floor-to-ceiling windows.
Its menu takes inspiration from its surroundings, with the aim to keep the offering as local as possible. Produce is sourced from Dalkeith Country Park, local providers and the Park’s sister Estates – Bowhill in Selkirk and Drumlanrig in Dumfries & Galloway – to ensure fresh daily seafood specials, seasonal meat and game and organic eggs and salad leaves.
Restoration Café opened last July following a £7million investment which also included Restoration Yard, Wellbeing Lab and Fort Douglas playground.
