Wednesday, 21 February 2018
The dates for the biggest event in Dumfriesshire’s rural calendar – Galloway Country Fair – have been confirmed as 18 and 19 August as the popular event returns this summer.
Organisers are urging people to save the date and take advantage of a 10 per cent early bird ticket discount.
The award winning weekend event takes place in the picturesque surroundings of Drumlanrig Caste and Country Estate. Showcasing the best of country pursuits, local craftsmanship, artisan food and drink as well as show-stopping entertainment, it is a not-to-be-missed celebration of rural life.
Anna Fergusson, Drumlanrig Castle and Country Estate Manager, said: “Fans of the Fair will be delighted to hear some favourites will be returning to the Buccleuch ring and stage this year, and we’ll be announcing our headline performers in the coming weeks.”
Confirmed acts for 2018 so far include the comical Sheep Show, gundog displays from John Halstead and a scurry provided by Galloway Gundogs, terrier racing and the Dog and Duck Show.
The free children’s activity zone featuring horse rides on the Blackstone Clydesdales, bouncy castles and archery from Team Challenge and Puppet Lab’s Forest Creatures Show will all be back by popular demand for this year.
With hundreds of stalls to browse showcasing the very best of local produce, crafts, homeware and outdoor sports attire, visitors will be spoiled for choice.
Anna continued: “Our dedicated crafts and food and drink tents will be busting with stalls to browse as we’ve had a really strong response from traders, including Fair regulars and brand new exhibitors.
“With tickets now on sale we can’t wait to share more details of this year’s event in the coming weeks and look forward to welcoming everyone in August.”
Enjoy the full weekend of the Fair with the additional option of one, two or three nights’ camping. Pitch a tent or park a caravan in a green field just a short walk from the showground and Drumlanrig Castle itself.
