Scotlands Top 10 Fashion Icons Revealed

Some of Scotland's leading models were out in force in Glasgow today (Friday 22nd May 2009) to launch the public vote for the coveted Marks & Spencer 'Scottish Fashion Icon of the Year' title at this year's Scottish Fashion Awards.

Sporting masks featuring the faces of some of the award's nominees, such as Edith Bowman, Ashley Jenson and Sharleen Spiteri, the models took to the iconic Royal Concert Hall steps wearing red carpet looks by Marks & Spencer, to celebrate the nation's fashionistas.

From today, the public will be able to visit www.scottishfashionawards.co.uk to vote for the celebrity they think deserves the title of Scottish Fashion Icon of the Year.

The prestigious shortlist is as follows:

Alex Kapranos

Annie Lennox

Ashley Jensen

Dougray Scott

Edith Bowman

James McAvoy

Jenni Falconer

Kelly MacDonald


Sharleen Spiteri


The list has been devised by the Awards team and iconic retailer M&S, which is sponsoring the award.

Kate Bostock, Executive Director of Fashion for M&S, said: "We are very excited to reveal the shortlist for the Scottish Fashion Icon of the Year category. The ten potential Icons on our list represent a wide spectrum of Scottish style - from red carpet glamour to understated chic.

"It will be very interesting to see who the public and the judges choose as their Fashion Icon for 2009. We can't wait to crown the winner."

The Scottish Fashion Awards 2009 will be held at Stirling Castle on Sunday 21st June.
