Searching For Scunthorpes Mr Happy
Tuesday, 14 December 2010
TEAM members at a local opticians are on the hunt for the town's version of the beloved Mr Men character Mr Happy.
On Friday 17 December, Specsavers Scunthorpe is urging all local shoppers to call in and nominate the person they believe to be Scunthorpe's answer to Mr Happy.
Andrew Mortimer, store director at Scunthorpe Specsavers, says: 'We're looking for that unique individual whose glass is always brimming over and never half empty.
"We want to find that special someone who is always upbeat and goes out of their way to make others happy. We hope to find a Mr or a Mrs Happy and reward them for their consistently cheery nature."
The crowned Mr, or Mrs, Happy of Scunthorpe will be treated to a free eye examination and provided with an eye voucher towards a pair of designer specs.
In addition, the store will operate a one-day specs-station, where anyone can come along and receive a free glasses MOT. Staff will clean lenses, repair frames and make adjustments to ensure specs fit correctly and comfortably.
There will also be a specially created little Miss and Mister section for the store's younger visitors, who will be able to colour to their hearts content while they visit the opticians.
