Sizzling summer activities at Dalkeith Country Park
Wednesday, 11 July 2018
Youngsters can make the most of the summer holidays with a host of exciting activities at Dalkeith Country Park.
A brand new craft den has opened within Fort Douglas playground offering everything from kite making to bug hunting.
Families can also enjoy special weekend entertainment at the Park with face painting and balloon modelling taking place on 14th and 15th July and magical woodland wizardly workshops on 21st and 22nd July.
Julie Merrilees, Visitor Services Manager at Dalkeith Country Park, said: “Not only can children have fun in our amazing playground, they can now take part in our fabulous selection of activities guaranteed to keep them busy throughout the school holidays.
“Activities will be different each day with no need to book in advance and can be enjoyed at no extra cost upon entry to Fort Douglas. Each activity encourages a different skill from building structures (made of spaghetti and marshmallows nonetheless!) to creative painting and learning about nature with our mini beast hunts.
“We’ve also extended our Fort Douglas opening hours to 8.30pm with the last admission at 7pm and have introduced off-peak entry prices from 5.30pm onwards.”
The craft den activity programme includes mini bug hunting, pebble painting, kite making, creating your own bird feeder, paper boat making and sailing, mini bug hotels and den building.
Perfect for kids and the young at heart, Fort Douglas is the 1,000m2 luxury playground comprising a magical treehouse, Zip Wires, toddler area plus lots more.
