Specsavers partnership strikes the right chord for music therapy charity

Tuesday, 17 December 2019

SPECSAVERS stores across Scotland showed their support for music therapy charity, Nordoff Robbins, raising more than £3,500 as part of a week-long fundraising appeal.

Each of Specsavers’ 74 Scottish stores donated £1 for every sight test carried out in a bid to help improve the lives of those affected by life-limiting illness, isolation or disability.

In addition to the sight test donations, staff members encouraged customers to dig deep in support of the charity, hosting a series of fundraisers in-store including music-themed quizzes, bake sales, busk-a-thons and karaoke challenges.

Specsavers Glasgow Fort scooped the prestigious ‘top fundraiser’ title as part of the week-long endeavour with their £800 contribution landing the team a seat at the star-studded Scottish Music Awards ceremony in Glasgow at the end of November.

Jill McArthur, Chair of Specsavers in Scotland, said: ‘We are delighted to support such an inspiring charity and hope the stores’ fundraising efforts go a long way helping to provide support for people who need it the most.

‘Nordoff Robbins has transformed the lives of so many vulnerable people helping improve physical health, communication abilities, cognitive skills and emotional well-being.

Sandy Trappitt, Head of Partnerships at Nordoff Robbins, said: ‘We are so very grateful to Specsavers for their generosity and for choosing to support our vital work.

‘Each penny raised through this partnership will help us fund our music therapy delivery, and allow us to reach more people across Scotland, and right across the UK.’

Nordoff Robbins is the UK’s largest independent music therapy charity and is dedicated to enriching the lives of people affected by a range of challenges.

Their highly skilled therapists deliver music therapy to those who need it most – from children with autism, young adults with mental health issues to those experiencing dementia or receiving end of life care.
