Tills Bridges Ringing Louder Than Ever Sales Start
Tuesday, 27 December 2011
Boxing Day has seen thousands of shoppers start the week by hitting the shops to take advantage of the sales at the Bridges shopping centre in Sunderland with queues of people forming at 5am this morning.
Andy Bradley, centre director of the Bridges, said: "December was phenomenal, really busy and we welcomed 1.7 million people through the centre and in the week leading up to Christmas Day our malls were home to a massive 532,000 festive shoppers.
"There's a great buzz in the centre today, bargain hunters are definitely out in force looking for those deals. More stores than ever are open on Boxing Day and most, including Next, TK Max, Debenhams and our newest retailers Schuh, Bank and Lush are in full sale mode to further bolster trading figures.
"As I've been walking around the centre I've noticed that people seem set on being out for the day. Our coffee shops and eateries have been busy as shoppers take a break, re-fuel and carry on with their search for the best bargains to ensure those pounds go as far as they can do into 2012."
