Transformer stars Optimus Prime and Bumble Bee will be joining a fleet of around 50 trucks and lorries on Saturday (24 September from 10am) as they descend in to M&D’s at Strathclyde Park as National Love your Lorry Week comes to an end with its largest ever event.

The transforming duo will be meeting visitors and making special appearances throughout the day on Saturday 24th to mark the celebration of all the work lorries do throughout the year.

M&D’s sponsored Love your Lorry week for 2016 – run by the Road Haulage Association -  which launched on Saturday 17th September and includes a roadshow events tour through Broxburn, Aberdeen, Pitlochry, Falkirk and Drem before coming to the park.

The national event is designed to showcase the part lorries play in delivering goods throughout the country as well as highlight some of the careers available in the haulage industry.

Matthew Taylor, from M&D’s said: “We are delighted to welcome the fleet of trucks to M&D’s for Love your Lorry week – the convoy of vehicles will certainly be a site to see. M&D’s has used lorries and trucks as part of the events business for many years and we appreciate the value haulage vehicles can make; they assist with many jobs behind the scenes that many people take for granted so we were proud to sponsor Love your Lorry Week for 2016.

“To mark the occasion we are thrilled to welcome Optimus Prime and Bumble Bee to M&D’s who will be greeting our visitors throughout the day. I am sure they will be a big hit with our customers this September weekend.”

Kim Mungall, Area Manager for the Road Haulage Association added: “We are looking forward to culminate our Love your Lorry Week with our showcase event at M&D’s on Saturday where we will be on hand along with employers to describe how goods get delivered, what the industry is all about and what opportunities could be available to anyone looking for a career with in our industry.

“The event will include a selection of Lorries, trailers and other equipment used in all sectors of the industry, from food delivery to fun delivery. All used daily to provide us with the service we very often take for granted. We look forward to speaking with everyone this Saturday and sharing the love for our lorries.”
