Uks Most Romantically Named Hotels Revealed

Monday, 07 February 2011

Leading independent accommodation and tourism website iknow-uk.com has searched the nation to find the most romantically named accommodation in the UK.

Not surprisingly, hoteliers and guest house owners have been creative with the theme of amour in the hope of capturing the hearts of lovebirds looking for a relaxing getaway.

With February 14 just around the corner, the most fitting name to discovered was Valentine Cottage in Cornwall, along with lovey dovey names such as Kissing Gate Bed and Breakfast and True Lovers Knot in Dorset.

iknow-uk.com's websites list thousands of hotels, B & Bs, cottages and guest houses and the company has scoured the nation to find the most loved-up accommodation names in Britain

The most romantic venue names found are:

1. Lovesome Hill Farm Bed and Breakfast -  Northallerton, North Yorkshire

2. Kissing Gate B&B - Ebrington, Chipping Campden, Gloucestershire

3. Braveheart Guesthouse -  Edinburgh

4. Rose Cottage B&B - Kirkby Lonsdale, Lake District

5. Heart in Hand Inn - Blunsdon, Swindon, Wiltshire

6. Love Cottage -Gargrave, Skipton, North Yorkshire

7. Whispers Self Catering - Ponsanooth, Truro, Cornwall

8. Valentine Cottage - St Ives, Cornwall

9. Forget Me Not Guest House - Stratford-upon-Avon, Warwickshire

10. True Lovers Knot - Blandford Forum, Dorset

Marcus Simmons, iknow-uk's managing director, said: "As well as the romantic  names we also found a few quirky ones.

"Names like Argument Cottage, in Guisborough, North Yorkshire, and The Dog House Hotel, in Abingdon Oxfordshire could be a talking point for couples!

"However, to borrow a quote from Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet 'What's in a name?' Certainly, putting thought into your accommodation and destination is sure to get you in your loved-one's good books.

"If you're planning to surprise your partner by whisking them away for a romantic getaway in the UK, don't leave it too late.

"Accommodation gets booked up very quickly ahead of Valentine's Day. If you don't, rather than snuggling up together in front of a log fire on February 14 you could find yourself in the dog house at home."
