VUE Omni Centre unveils refurbished bar to kick off Edinburgh International Film Festival screenings

Friday, 23 June 2017

Vue in the Omni Centre is set to unveil its new look bar space in time for its first Edinburgh International Film Festival (EIFF) screening.

The interior of the bar has been refreshed to create a relaxed area to enjoy a refreshment whilst taking in breath-taking views across Leith Street and the top of Leith Walk, including St Mary’s Cathedral and St Paul’s and St George’s Church.

The refurbished bar will open exclusively for guests attending EIFF screenings from Friday 23 June and will open to the public on Wednesday 28 June.

Robert Smith, General Manager at Vue Omni Centre, commented: “What better way to mark being part of Edinburgh’s iconic film festival than to unveil this slick new space.

“The refurbishment is part of our dedication to providing our customers with the best big screen experience possible.

“We are looking forward to unveiling it on 28 June, but if you’d like a sneak peek before then, come along to one of our EIFF screenings taking place between 23 and 27 June.”

The new-look bar fuses old and new as visitors can get up close to the 160-year-old façade of Lady Glenorchy Church which now welcomes guests to the neighbouring The Glasshouse Hotel.

Robert continues: “The bar area features a spectacular listed window from the Lady Glenorchy Church. I’ve no doubt the table in front of the window will prove popular with customers. It is a fantastic spot to take in the view.”

Vue’s EIFF programme will kick off with the UK premier of In This Corner of the World on Friday 23 June, with the last film, The Receptionist, screened on Tuesday 27 June.
