Yorkshire Retailer Set To Sparkle National Awards

Monday, 12 July 2010

One of Britain's most established pawnbroking and retail jewellery chains, Herbert Brown, is set to sparkle at this week's UK Jewellery Awards, with the firm in the running to scoop four prestigious accolades.

The company, which is headquartered in Leeds, has been shortlisted in three categories: Multiple Retailer of the Year; Retail Employer of the Year and Retail Star of the Year, where two Yorkshire employees - Jane Coates, manager of Herbert Brown in Keighley and Carolyn Wilkins of the Crossgates branch - have made the shortlist and will be attending this Thursday's award ceremony (15th July) at the Grosvenor House Hotel in London.

Phillip Garlick, Herbert Brown operations director comments: "The UK Jewellery Awards are the most prestigious awards in the retail jewellery trade and we are thrilled to be shortlisted alongside the heavy weights of the UK high street, especially as we celebrate the firm's 170th year.

"We are particularly proud of our Retail Star nominees - they have undergone a stringent vetting process to make the shortlist, including the use of mystery shoppers and the candidates presenting to the judging panel.  At Herbert Brown we are very proud of our reputation for excellent customer service and this is entirely thanks to the dedicated, professional manner of our staff.

"Jane and Carolyn are fantastic ambassadors for the company; to receive industry-wide recognition is no mean feat and I warmly congratulate them on their award nominations."

Herbert Brown is celebrating its 170th year on the high street and currently has 37 stores across the UK, including 20 in Yorkshire.  The continuation of a fast-paced store expansion programme which began in 2009 will see an additional 10 stores open across Britain by June 2011, with further store openings planned through to 2012 and beyond.
